Towards the end of 2020 The Calico Club -
House & Garden’s cultural events programme - launched a competition in collaboration with United in Design, a charity driven by a clear need to deliver an equal opportunity pathway for entry into the interior design industry for people from black, Asian, ethnic minority and socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Participants were tasked with designing a space where they would like to escape to, which sparked some highly skilled and imaginative entries. We were met with seaside views, decadent spas and ingenious ways of maintaining connections with loved ones. We thank all of those who took part but we are thrilled to announce our five winners, each of whom will receive a year-long member to The Calico Club. Huge congratulations to Abigail Oyabambi, Patrice Mai, Catherine Chan Murphy, Parveer Braich and Tara Rodrigues.
