Fraser Town Canine Squad does some pawsome work
One of 30 squads across the City, the Fraser Town Canine Squad deals with hyperlocal issues in the neighbourhood. Started in July 2020, the group consists of animal lovers who help connect, liason, and look into animal welfare – especially dogs – in the Fraser Town community.

Cooke Town community donated towards the education of three little girls, an initiative spearheaded by two Good Samaritans of the neighbourhood
It all began when Deepti
Nair moved to Cooke Town in April this year. She would go for walks and was often accompanied by three little Nepali-origin girls, and she befriended them and started talking to them. That’s when she understood that the girls were missing out on their education due to financial constraints, and so, with the help of her neighbour, Pamela
But it wasn’t a one-day task. It took the residents nearly two months to coordinate with and get the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on board, especially as the garbage auto-tippers were not available. Clearing the mountain of trash was also not an easy process.
“I joined the school as a volunteer sometime in March this year. The school has always catered to the underprivileged, starting out from enrolling children from the most marginalized groups, that is, children of ‘night soil’ workers to enrolling children below the poverty line currently,” she says.
Chatt Ras is my favourite and I absolutely love the simplicity of this dish where flavour is created from just 2 – 3 ingredients. It is a reminder of simpler days when doctors back home in Kashmir would recommend it during winters.
