“So the matter will be handed to the investigating officer to take all the necessary actions needed,” he told reporters after inspecting a roadblock at Sungai Besi toll plaza here today.
PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Tommy Thomas tell-all memoir shows that he had lobbied for the attorney general’s position by meeting with top Pakatan Harapan leaders and prominent activists, says an MCA spokesman.
According to snippets from Thomas’ memoir My Story: Justice in the Wilderness, the spokesman Mike Chong said Thomas had met with not just top Pakatan leaders to obtain their support but also with the late former Lord President Tun Dr Mohamed Salleh Abas and well-known activist Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan to lobby for the attorney general s position if Pakatan won the general election.
Chong said that in the memoir, Thomas had also claimed he had the support of DAP veterans Lim Kit Siang and the late Karpal Singh before the 13th General Election that he would be appointed as the country’s attorney general if the Opposition won the election.
PETALING JAYA: Attorney General Tan Sri Idrus Harun
(pic) has said that he has no doubts about the abilities, commitment, and dedication of his colleagues in carrying out their tasks without fear or favour.
Idrus said that Tan Sri Tommy Thomas recently-released book My Story: Justice in the Wilderness had elicited reactions from many parties that questioned the competency and trustworthiness of lawyers working with the Chambers. The book has had a negative impact on outsiders and has affected the morale and spirit of the lawyers. I believe that the book is an insult to the institution of law, he said in an internal letter dated Thursday (Feb 4) for staff of the Attorney General’s Chambers.
