Nashville police identified a woman they believe was fatally shot while inside a car in South Nashville as Holly Vantrease, 27, of Nashville.
Police believe she was shot Tuesday night near the 200 block of Tampa Drive and dumped in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Paragon Mills Road, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
MNPD said it worked with the Lavergne Police Department to recover the car in which Vantrease was riding and questioned a witness who was with the car. The car was impounded and being examined at an MNPD laboratory.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â A 27-year-old woman was found shot to death in the parking lot of a South Nashville apartment complex late Tuesday night.
Metro police said Holly Vantrease was shot while in the passenger seat of a car on Tampa Drive. Her body was later left in the parking lot of the apartment complex not far from where she was shot.
Investigators working with La Vergne police located the car, which has since been impounded. Metro police said the witness with the car has been questioned.
