Tamarack Fire shuts down Highway 395 in south Douglas County; evacuation in Topaz Lake area

UPDATE: Voluntary evacuations were issued late Wednesday night for all residents in the Topaz Ranch Estates and Topaz Lake areas. Residents were asked to evacuate to Smith Valley High School. Highway 395 is now closed from China Springs Rd. to the NV/CA state line, and at 395 and SR208. The TRE evacuation center is being closed due to the fire.

Bently Ranch Provides Location for Burnt Vegetation from Tamarack Fire

Bently Ranch is accepting burnt vegetation from the Tamarack Fire at their compost yard (1089 Stockyard Road, Minden, NV). Bently Ranch has agreed to accept the burned vegetation from Douglas Disposal at no charge.

Carson City area air quality in moderate range Tuesday morning, expected to worsen later in day

While the Tamarack Fire is now over half-way contained as of Tuesday morning, smoke throughout the valleys, including haze from the 208,206-acre Dixie Fire, is still affecting air quality throughout western Nevada and the Carson City area.
