JOHOR BARU: A power trip at the Skudai Main Inlet Substation (PMU) disrupted electricity supply to 22,968 account holders in several areas in Skudai here.
Johor Works, Transportation and Infrastructure committee chairman Solihan Badri said those in Taman Universiti, Taman Mutiara Rini, Taman Skudai Indah, Taman Sri Orkid and Taman Harmoni began experiencing disrupted power supply from 12.38pm on Saturday (April 3).
“The power trip at the PMU caused the loss of about 21 megawatts of electricity supplied to the 175 substations that were powering 22,968 accounts.
“The source of the trip is still being investigated, ” he said in a statement on Sunday (April 4).
He added that Tenaga Nasional Bhd took the necessary action to restore the power supply in stages, first to 43% of the affected users within the first three hours through a power grid.
