A Woman Of Consequence: Fierce Wāhine Tell The Story Of Lucy Takiora Lord

Constellations, Pop Up Globe’s Twelfth Night) and (Black Ties, TVNZ1’s Erina Daniels (Taki Rua’s Cellfish) and award-winning designer Astroman, Wild Dogs Under My Skirt). Kāwana comes to the story of Lucy Lord via two pathways; the interest in the controversial figure that she’s had since drama school, since playing her twice onstage and onscreen; and her own personal relation to Lord, who is her great aunt. Fledgling festivals reach new audiences for creative scene

Strasbourg 1518 at Circa Theatre, was an excellent meeting of dance, theatre, sound, light and jazz. One thing hasn’t changed in the 25 years I’ve been writing about the visual and performing arts in Wellington - people from galleries ask me for theatre recommendations, while theatregoers ask about exhibitions. Looks on their faces suggest they consider the other respective arts scene like some other country. Even in this creative crucible of a city I’m often struck by how different audiences can be. And how many different cultural scenes there are. A regular attender of both NZSO and Orchestra Wellington concerts recently commented to me how different he finds these two orchestras audiences - the Orchestra Wellington crowd “younger and a different class”.
