was such a critical mission in the first place. this has to do with a cooling pump that wasn t functioning properly. why was this necessary? why did it come to a spacewalk? well, because they have to replace you know, the station is 15 years old and they have to replace items on board it all the time. so whthey have to pull the pump out. they ve got a full coolant system doing everything they need, but they have no backup. if the they should lose the one that they have operating now and they re both down, they d have to borrow a little coolant from the russians. they could do that from the russian side for three or four days, but then if they ran out of that they couldn t get the systems up, they would have to abandon the station. they have two spacecraft that are docked to the international space station. there are six people on board. three would get in each of the spacecraft and return to earth. so right now they get this done, they ll be operating back to normal, kristen. liste
