Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria Thursday flew a Su-30MKI fighter jet in Bengaluru to witness its capability enhancement , the Indian Air Force (IAF) said. CAS (Chief of Air Staff) visited Bengaluru and interacted with test crew of Aircraft & Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) & software engineers of Software Development Institute, it said on Twitter. The ASTE conducts flight testing of aircraft, airborne systems and weapons prior to their induction into the IAF. Bhadauria reviewed ongoing projects during his visit on Thursday and flew a Su-30MKI aircraft to witness the capability enhancement on successful completion of one such project , the IAF stated.

BENGALURU: HAL has received a Request for Proposal (RFP) and quotation from the Indian Air Force for its basic trainer aircraft at the Aero India 2021 here on Thursday.
The documents were handed over to R Madhavan, CMD, HAL, by Deputy Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sandeep Singh and Director General (Acquisition), Ministry of Defence, VL Kantha Rao.

The Indian air force is expected to issue a request for proposal (RFP) to Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) for 70 Hindustan Turbo Trainer 40 (HTT-40) basic trainers.
The RFP will signal the start of the formal process towards a production contract with HAL, which has committed to begin deliveries within two years of contract signature. The Indian air force is also expected to issue its Staff Qualitative Requirements along with the RFP.

HTT-40 acquisitions will be split into an initial order for 70 of the type on completion of certification, followed by an additional 36 aircraft to be ordered on successful operation of the type.
