U.S. News and World Report has released its 2021 rankings of nearly 24,000 public high schools nationwide, including 1,281 schools in the Empire State. Five schools in Central New York made the top 100, led by New Hartford Senior High School for the third year in a row. New Hartford ranked No. 67 across the state with a 100% graduation rate and a 59.2 college readiness score.

Reply(1) WalletHub created a ranking of the best public high schools in New York, and five Long Island schools cracked the top 10. (Shutterstock) LONG ISLAND, NY Five Long Island high schools were named among the best public schools in the state in a recent study conducted by WalletHub. WalletHub compared more than 1,200 public high schools across the state across multiple metrics, which it grouped into four categories: college readiness, school experience, diversity and teacher and staff. It combined the metrics to create a score out of 100 for each school. College readiness was the most important metric, and was worth 40 points. The other three were worth 20 points each.
