I was at the candidate forum for our library board of trustees, and I’ve been following the race since then. I’ve noticed a clear difference between the two candidates.
Our library is wonderful exactly as is. It has been wonderful for the 30-plus years I've been a patron. Nothing much has changed except our rapidly expanding community.
I was struck by a sense of foreboding and mourning during NIC’s jazz bands' last performance as trustee board politicization might lead to college access. A similar trend toward chaos is threatening our library out of an unreasonable fear for our children’s safety. There is no threat of drag show story hours, legally defined obscene or pornographic material, or sexualization by our local librarians and adult fiction is already confined to the upstairs.
