About a month after Lancaster recreation center Roll On America shut its doors after over four decades in business the property at 90 Duval Road was purchased for $2.5 million by Five SAC Self-Storage Corp., a corporation presided over by Mark Shoen, a billionaire owner and vice president of self-moving company U-Haul, according to public documents.
The seller, Giggles and Grins LLC, is managed by Donald Perkins, who owns the business with his wife, Susan Perkins.
The sale was finalized on May 11.
Roll On America announced its impending closure on March 18, in a Facebook post.
“As we head into retirement, we were hoping to have Roll On America live on with a new owner; however COVID-19 and extended closures have not allowed that dream to become a reality,” the duo wrote. “It is extremely difficult to say goodbye and close our doors to all the fun times our skating family has given us.”

For people in and around Leominster, Roll On America in Lancaster was more than just a roller skating rink.
It was a first job for young adults. It was where kids had their birthday party, or played arcade games, or took a spin around the rink and made new friends.
Some people even met their significant others there.
Monday, April 5 marked the final day of business for the northern Worcester County institution, which closed its doors forever after 42 years.

A Final Skate adds to memories at Roll On America, now closed

LANCASTER - From birthday parties to a night out with friends, Roll On America has been a place for fun and memories for more than four decades.
On Monday, the center closed for good, but not before roller skating fans took one last glide around the oval. A Final Skate, enveloped in nostalgic music and recollections of fun times, attracted hundreds to the center.
Owners Donald and Susan Perkins, who have run Roll On since 1979, decided last month to shut down. They had hoped to sell the business, a goal that never materialized, and they were facing a tough business climate amid COVID-19 shutdowns.
Brompton bridge WITH regard to the article on page 2 of last week’s Darlington and Stockton Times “Search for funding to replace village bridge” I would like to take this opportunity to update residents of Brompton and users of the village green at Water End, Brompton about the footway bridge closure. A flood risk assessment is currently taking place and the town council will shortly be submitting a planning application for a new bridge. Residents will be consulted on the new bridge through to the normal planning process. The new bridge however will be different in appearance from the existing bridge due to health and safety and other modern requirements but will be sympathetic to the surroundings.
