No. I had never thought about that question before, but i do know, looking into this little autograph book you have when you are very little, and you ask your grandmother and mother to sign it, and they would say, what do you want to be when you grow up . I remember, looking back, and when i was maybe in second grade, it was flight attendant, or which we called stewardess at the time, or ballerina. That was, sort of, my notion of what women could be. So, no, it never occurred to me, certainly, never, to enter into politics, or to the front in center. I dont really have anyone that is young, that was female. We so, our did you first become involved . I come from a long line of politicians. My grandfather, in the new York State Assembly. A father in the new York City Council, then the president. I am an only child, and close to both of my parents. So, we would have sunday breakfast, and we would have elections of, who is going to be president of the day. So, you would say, you know, i wi

So this project that we are working on is to recognize and to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the election of Jeannette Rankin to congress. The first woman. So we have a bunch of questions that we wanted to ask you today. First, of when you are young did you have any role models . No. I had never thought about that question but i dont think so. He has worked at Petersburg National battlefield, National Historical park, Manassas National battlefield and Vicksburg National military park. Hes currently employed as a ranger slash historian at gettysburg National Military park. And he will be presenting to you about the fallen leader Earl Van Dorn. Host and representative joe barton, a republican of texas, is the chairman emeritus of the energy and commerce committee, he joins us on the communicators to talk about some of the Telecommunications Issues facing congress and the fcc. Congressman, if we could start with a couple of breaking issues in the last week or so. Number one, i want to get your thoughts on the comcast Time Warner Cable merger and whether or not congress will end up playing a role on that. Guest well, we really havent had a chance to study it much at the committee level. I think we will have a hearing on it. Im sure the chairmen will have a hearing. On the surface of it, i would think the congress would be generally receptive. We would want to look at any local issues where there was a market dominance, disproportionate share of concentration, but i think overall we would tend to be receptive. So this law is going to work. And for the sake of our economic security, it needs to work. [applause] and as people in states as different as california and kentucky sign up every single day for health insurance, signing up in droves, theyre proving they want that economic security. If the Senate Republican leader still thinks he is going to be able to repeal this someday, he might want to check with the more than 60,000 people in his home state who are already set to finally have coverage that frees them from the fear of financial ruin, and lets them afford to take their kids to see a doctor. [applause] so let me end by addressing the elephant in the room here, which is the seeming inability to get anything done in washington these days. I realize we are not going to resolve all of our political debates over the best ways to reduce inequality and increase upward mobility this year, or next year, or in the next five years.
