The Supreme Court-appointed committee on the three new farm laws will hold its first meeting on 19 January to decide the future course of action, its member Anil Ghanwat said on Sunday. We are meeting on January 19 at the Pusa campus. Only members will meet to decide the future course of action, Ghanwat, President of Shetkari Sanghatana (Maharashtra), told PTI.

Mann, a former Rajya Sabha MP, is the national president of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) and Chairman of the All India Kisan Coordination Committee. The BKU is one of the major organisations spearheading the protests against the farm laws.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court’s efforts to end the stalemate between the protesting farmers and the Central government ran into a stumbling block, as one of the members of the committee it had appointed to hold talks recused himself on Thursday, citing ‘apprehensions amongst the farm unions and the public in general’.
Bhupinder Singh Mann, one of the four members appointed by the Supreme Court to the committee, offered to step down “so as to not compromise the interests of Punjab and farmers of the country”.

New Delhi: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, on Wednesday, mocked the Supreme Court s decision to form a committee to examine farm laws and questioned if it was appointed by the apex court or PM Narendra Modi. Taking to Twitter, Singh also questioned why certain individuals were not a part of the committee. Farmers beware, Is it a committee suggested by Hon Supreme Court or by Modiji? Singh said in a tweet along with links providing information about some of the members of the committee.
