Breaking: Dubai announces new restrictions to combat COVID-19

New restrictions have been announced in Dubai as part of efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19. The changes were announced under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, headed by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. They apply to restaurants, cafes, shopping malls, entertainment and sports venues as well as hotels. Indoor seating venues, including cinemas, and entertainment and sports venues, will operate at 50 per cent capacity, with restaurants and cafes required to close by 1:00 am.

Dubai to require PCR tests from all arrivals | Business Travel News Europe

The decision by the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management means that negative pre-departure tests taken no earlier than 72 hours before the flight will be required by UAE residents, GCC citizens and foreign visitors prior to departure for Dubai irrespective of the country they are coming from.  The Committee has also mandated that arrivals from certain countries (based on the pandemic situation in those countries) require an additional test on arrival in Dubai. The list includes many countries in Africa and South America.

Travel, Tourism & Hospitality Dubai updates travel protocols for inbound passengers

January 2021 522 The Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai, headed by H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has announced updates to Dubai’s travel protocols for inbound passengers, effective from January 31, said a report.   The updates are part of the Committee’s keenness to protect passengers and ease hassles for them without compromising on Covid-19 precautionary measures put in place to safeguard everyone’s health and wellbeing, news agency WAM reported.   As part of the revised protocols, UAE residents, GCC citizens and visitors are required to do a PCR test prior to departure for Dubai irrespective of the country they are coming from.
