More than 6,000 patrols, searches and specific operations have been carried out by gardaí in Longford this year in a bid to tackle feuding between warring families and crime groups.
Inspector Frank Finn told a meeting of Longford’s Joint Policing (JPC) Committee this week that officers had conducted approximately 6,200 “proactive policing engagements” so far this year dealing solely with inter-family disputes.
