SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The United Cajun Navy and the Shreveport Volunteer Network are teaming up with a Shreveport area church to distribute food and water to people in need after the severe winter weather that moved through the ArkLaTex the week of Feb. 15.

After praying for longtime friend Dr. Rod Masteller most of Saturday evening, Shreveport Community Church pastor Denny Duron awoke at 3:45 a.m. Sunday with a calm feeling overcoming him.
Masteller, 75, who pastored Summer Grove Baptist Church for more than a decade, lost his battle with COVID-19 and passed away at approximately 3:45 Sunday morning in Dallas where he and his wife, Linda Jines Masteller, had moved to be closer to family.
“Dr. Masteller was genuine. He genuinely loved God, his beautiful family and the people he served, which was everyone he encountered in a given day,” Duron said. “In a day when personality often is more valued than Biblical truth, Dr. Rod stuck by The Book.
