The minister will offer heavy equipment required to look for missing victims buried under the landslide debris. However, the deployment of heavy equipment would be a challenging task since the road leading up to the landslide location is quite narrow.
Rescuers efforts ongoing to locate 24 missing residents of Sumedang 13th January 2021
(ANTARA/Bagus Ahmad Rizaldi) Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - Local rescue workers on Wednesday continued their attempts to locate 24 residents still missing in the aftermath of landslides that hit Cihanjuang Village, Cimanggung Sub-district, Sumedang District, West Java, on January 9, 2021.
The search and rescue operation was started at 7:30 a.m. local time by focusing on a settlement area, house of worship, and volleyball court, Bandung s Search and Rescue (SAR) Agency Head, Deden Ridwansyah, revealed.
The number of those reportedly still missing as a result of the landslides increased, from 23 to 24, after the Sawah Dadap Public Health Center received a report of one other missing resident on Tuesday, he stated.

Around 2,000 people have been newly displaced in Kyaukme Township in northern Shan between 1 and 6 January due to the fighting between the Restoration Council of Shan State/Shan State Army (RCSS/SSA) and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). Over 3,000 people have now been taking refuge in eight sites in the Township since 27 December 2020, when the clashes first erupted in the area. This is in addition to 240 people who remain displaced in Namtu Township in northern Shan since 4 January due to clashes between the RCSS/SSA and TNLA. Local authorities, host communities and humanitarian organizations continue to provide the displaced population with food, non-food, cash and COVID-19-related assistance
