ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday said the criminal justice system was of fundamental importance and the backbone of governance, and work on this should be ensured on priority basis.
He observed this while presiding over a high-level meeting on reforms in the criminal justice system and implementation of the Civil Procedure Code in the provinces and Islamabad.
“If we look at the history of the nations of the world, only those nations have been able to develop which have brought a system of organised and strong justice to provide justice to the people. The previous governments have taken advantage of lawlessness by corrupting the system,” he noted.

PESHAWAR:
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government on Monday announced to widen the property tax net by amending certain clauses in the property tax.
This move was part of the newly introduced Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Amendment of Certain Fiscal Laws Bill, 2021 in the provincial assembly.
According to the bill, all those buildings that are being used by government, semi government, non-governmental organisations, financial institutions, private commercial organisations - local or international brand shops, foodchains, outlets, wedding halls, hotels and restaurants - guest houses, hostels or banks shall now be assessed and taxed under the rates and procedures mentioned in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Finance Act
TEVTA okays 462 new posts in merged districts

PESHAWAR: The 17th meeting of the Board of Directors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (KP- TEVTA) has approved the creation of 462 new posts to functionalise 10 technical education institutes in the newly-merged districts.
The meeting was held here with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair, said a handout.
The chief minister directed the authorities concerned to expedite the process of creation of the said posts as per the prevailing rules and regulations of the authority and clarified that the technical educational institutions in the merged districts should be made fully functional on priority basis.
