PM Modi inaugurates cable-stayed Sudarshan Setu bridge in Gujarat. The 2.32 km bridge, including 900 metres of central double span cable-stayed portion and a 2.45 km long approach road, has been constructed at a cost of ₹979 crore, as per an official release.
The bridge would make it easier for devotees to travel between Dwarka and Beyt Dwarka, as they had to rely on boats to reach Beyt Dwarka till now. The bridge will also be a prominent tourist attraction in Devbhumi Dwarka
With a total length of 2.32 kilometers, Sudarshan Setu is now India’s longest cable-stayed bridge. The bridge spans the distance between the Okha mainland and Beyt Dwarka in Gujarat. Its strategic location connecting Okha mainland with Beyt Dwarka, an island near the Okha port, is of particular importance. Beyt Dwarka is approximately 30 kilometers from Dwarka town, which is famous for the Dwarkadhish Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna.
