Subaru Europe confirms it is launching an EV and word is the world will see it before the end of 2021. The company said it is a mid-size SUV “similar in size to the Subaru Forester model.” It will be built on a platform shared with Toyota, the company said. Subaru had previously planned for its first electric car to be based on an existing model built on its own Global Platform, but decided to go with the shared platform.

Subaru Corporation announced today its all-new fully-electric SUV would launch in Europe. According to the news report, the first-ever Subaru BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) comes to Europe in the first half of the 2020s. As Torque News reported recently, the announcement revealed the EV would be a mid-size SUV similar in size to the 2021 Subaru Forester.
Subaru will develop the new BEV with Toyota, which now owns 20 percent of Subaru Corporation. The partnership will also produce more Subaru hybrid models by the mid-2020s. Subaru will produce one new all-electric SUV for the U.S. and Europe. But North American customers will get the new electric vehicle first.
