student is going to the library. they can even track the length of a bathroom break. what do they do with all this information? according to one of the program s founders, student attendance and tardiness are scored into a point system some professors use for grading. schools can use the data to take action against truant students. joining me now, drew harwell, who broke the story. i totally get that part. i think schools should be able too figure out the most effective way of determining attendance and tardiness. where does the bathroom break come into this? or the library? i m really glad that this kind of technology wasent around when i was in college. yeah, it all goes into building this profile on the student. what can we know about how often they re going to class, how long they re staying through. and, you know, the professors get a full on timeline of how long the student stayed in the lecture. that they can sort of build into their grade and maybe use against them later on.

we ve researched a four-day week for two years, and the studies said that the academic achievement under a four-day week is neutral. neither positive nor negative gain. we have found there s a great increase in staff and student attendance. let me stop you there. how did the studies i just i m trying to figure out how the studies say that, if you have an entire day that the children aren t learning where normally they would be. how could that be neutral? well, because you keep the hours of instruction the same. so when we go to a four-day week, our students have the same amount of instruction over the course of the time that they re in school as they said in a current five-day week. are not there more factors, though, that go into act than just the actual quote-unquote instruction into a child s learning and the being there and the socialization and access to teachers? don t you factor that in? are the studies just looking at test scores, or how do he evaluate it?
