Ikea Wants To Teach Swedish To Kids Stuck At Home | Shenandoah Country Q102

By Chris and Rosie Feb 15, 2021 For years, Ikea has been teaching us how to put together their inexpensive DIY home furnishings, but now it seems they want to help us learn something else: Swedish. The retailer from Sweden is launching a new program to help kids learn the language while they’re home during the pandemic. Each of the “ Learning at home with Ikea” lessons is short – only about two minutes – and they’re geared for beginners and children. They can be found on YouTube and cover topics including family, nature and geography, as well as the names and origins of some of Ikea’s products. For example, they explain that bed sheets, comforters and pillowcases are named after plants and flowers, while bookcases are named for occupations or have boys’ names. They even teach us to count their beloved meatballs in Swedish.
