don t have power. one of the customers is the hospital here in bay county. this is bay medical sacred heart. the good news? this happened to the building where patients were not located. michael ripped the side off the building. this is where billing and purchasing and equipment comes in. the hospital did receive structure damage during the storm. including blown out windows and roof issues and structural issues with walls. they are in the process. they are running on generator power. water is not working in panama city right now. they are evacuating the patients here. they started yesterday morning. they have 24 more hours to get all of them out. we caught some of the ambulances coming through yesterday from other communities working on getting those patients out. there were helicopters as well choppering them to other places
devastated. so stay with me. it is gorgeous here. beautiful day to fly. but as we go along the coastline, it will be much worse. one of the things, what we saw from the ground there experiencing what looks like the aftermath of devastating tornadoes, twisted metal, buildings thrown on their heads. so different than the destruction of a typical hurricane. that s exactly what i thought when i saw the pictures this morning. it took me back to a couple years ago when i was on the ground in oklahoma. the power from the winds, just keeping in mind it was clocked at 155 miles an hour. that is two miles an hour shy of a category five hurricane. and when you look at the structure damage and the mangled metal, it took me right back to
and the damage there, the destruction, how would you characterize it? this would be the worst i ve heard. i m actually in destin trying to make my way back to apalachicola. this is the worst in history. a lot of downed trees, some structure damage. we just don t know how much yet. we re waiting on those assessments to come in. all right but it s good to hear that all of your residents there are at least safe. mayor johnson, thank you, and good luck. keep us posted, sir. all right. thank you. developing story here, harvey weinstein s lawyers are celebrating a partial legal victory this morning. weinstein appeared in a manhattan courtroom a short time ago. the judge agreed to dismiss allegations by one of the three accusers. weinstein s team had accused her of perjury. alicia evans told her story to the new yorker last year. she says weinstein forced her to perform oral sex in 2004.
it, had a wind gust of 139 miles per hour. had a wind sustained at 129. this is the real deal. this isn t just some make-up, oh, let s push the numbers up so people panic. no, this is truly now a category-four hurricane that will make landfall close to panama city beach. it s close enough that we can see it on the radar. the eye is on the bottom of the screen there approaching that florida panhandle coast. now, on the one sides we have st. mark s that s going to get a significant surge. the other side, destin will see a lot less, walton beach a lot less because of the offshore flow. the onshore flow from panama city to apalachicola is the part that will have significant damage here. we re going to have buildings, structure damage with wind, we ll have storm surge knocking buildings down. people need to be out of there. hopefully they are. they ve known if they re in zone one, two, three, a, b, c,
and i m really dismayed at that because again, this is a life-threatening storm. if anything i can get across, it s to leave now. mayor, this will be the first major hurricane to hit the panhandle since 2005. i showed video of it moments ago to to mark de maria. just the fourth since 1950 this will be. what is your biggest fear right now? my biggest fear is flooding, erosion, structure damage. and for those people that didn t heed the warning, possible loss of life. yeah. wow. you know, mayor, a major category three, that s a major storm. sustained winds up to 120 miles per hour. what kind of damage could that do to your town? know how things are built there. what kind of damage could it do? it would be catastrophic. homes built in the 1800s. it s a historic community.
