STRATFORD, CT A 68-year-old man was taken to the hospital Thursday after he suffered a medical emergency and crashed a car into a garage, which then collapsed.
Crews responded about 6:15 p.m. to Elm Street, where the man was trapped under the damaged garage inside a Honda hatchback, according to Fire Marshal Robert Daniel.
Firefighters had to remove the garage from around the vehicle and extract the man through the back of the car, said Daniel, who is also an assistant chief with the Stratford Fire Department. The rescue took about 15 minutes, and 14 firefighters responded to the scene.
