Stratford police have begun investigating a Bitcoin company that has allegedly defrauded an area resident out of nearly $350,000.
Police said the person who lodged the complaint Tuesday began investing with a company called tethertrade.com, which changed its name to Coinrally last September. The complainant told police he had been dealing with real people over the phone and online who were reportedly working from various locations around the world.

When the complainant tried to make a withdrawal from his investments, he was told he would have to pay a deposit up front before receiving his money. He also began receiving email threats demanding his personal information before he could get his money back.
