Volunteers save Stourport Christmas lights

A GROUP of dedicated volunteers have saved the Stourport Christmas lights display. Thanks to a committed team, the lights are decorating the town this year, despite having to cancel the usual Three Kings Parade due to Covid-19 restrictions. Normally 2,000 people turn out for the lights switch on. That cannot happen this year, but volunteers were insistent the lights still had to go up to bring a bit of cheer to the town. And the weather didn’t make their job any easier, with lashing rain and winds. Rotary Club member, Pete Roberts said: ‘I’ve been involved with the Christmas Lights for over 30 years. In recent years we have worked with the Town Council and former Town Centre Forum, (now amalgamated with Stourport Forward) to fund the purchase and maintenance of the lights.
