d.n.c. vice chair michael blake. great to see you both. haven t had you both at the same time. this is fun when we do. start with the disclosure. the president was clear about this. he said on twitter he paid michael cohen a monthly retainer. that is not unusual for celebrities, people of power, businessmen to sign non-disclosures with people accusing them of things they haven t done. the real take away from this is a quinnipiac poll that said 73% of voters, 73% do not think the stormy daniels saga is of any importance. this is not going to work approaching the midterm. harris: i would step in with this and i m sure you will chime in on this, michael. the only reason they looked so closely at any payment at all to stormy daniels is to figure out if it was paid with the campaign funds. this tells us no. so does the story go away?
with a professor of international politics at city university of london. thank you for being with us. as far as this at&t merger story, rudy giuliani muddies the waters, yet again. remember the stormy daniels saga. he was saying that it was president trump, not the department of justice, that blocked the merger. the doj has previously denied the president was involved. is giuliani helping or hurting the president? it s very difficult to say. he was brought in, i think, partly because of his reputation. he s a fighter, a sort of political street fighter by reputation. and i think the idea was much more aggressive stance, particularly with the media. and kind of painting a picture of a beleaguered president, a man of the people, fighting the system. but unfortunately, it seems to have gone the other way. that is, he s opened up president trump to more exposure in the stormy daniels question
separate branch of the government. here s some of what president trump has said publicly about this proposed deal. at&t is buying time warner and thus cnn, a deal we will not approve in my administration. i always felt that s a deal not good for the country. i think your pricing s going to go up. i don t think it s a good deal for the country. i m not going to get involved. it s litigation. as i noted this isn t the first time rudy giuliani has had this sort of unforced error. you ll recall days after coming on as the president s personal attorney, he had this interview on fox news. which he contradicted much of what the president had previously said about the stormy daniels saga and his awareness of payments made to her by michael cohelp. of course, the president said shortly after that giuliani t t didn t have all his facts straight. he sort of chided him publicly. unclear how the president feels about this latest clarification from his personal attorney.
