$12 5K of iPads donated to Stockert Youth Center by Suddenlink | News, Sports, Jobs

bjohnson@theintermountain.com BUCKHANNON Students at the Stockert Youth and Community Center now have the ability to learn from tutors even when they’re not at the facility, thanks to a major donation this week. On Tuesday, Suddenlink presented a donation of $12,500 worth of iPads to the center in Buckhannon. The donation will increase access to virtual learning opportunities, connectivity and online curriculum for students, officials said. The Stockert Youth and Community Center provides tutoring, after-school activities, recreation and sports classes and leagues, and summer camps for youth and adults in Buckhannon and Upshur County. The iPads will be used on remote learning days and in after-school programs for students. Suddenlink also provides complimentary internet service for the center.

Cain BUCKHANNON The Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur recently welcomed two new members Lisa Cain and Dr. Sara Stankus. Cain has served as a financial advisor for over 19 years and has been with Edward Jones since 2012. She has been recognized as one of the firm’s top female financial advisors. She is active with the community serving as a member of the Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce and volunteering with the community blood screenings sponsored by St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur. She also volunteers with local dog rescue organizations and has fostered dogs in her home. Stankus is the superintendent of Upshur County Schools.
