Different environmental groups throughout the state are asking that the state's Department of Environmental Quality shut down the Bull Mountain coal mine near Roundup, owned by FirstEnergy, Gunvor and Boich Companies.
From Crain's Akron Business: The company announced late Thursday, Sept. 15, that president and CEO Steve Strah has resigned from the board of directors and is retiring immediately. In turn, John W. Somerhalder II, chair of the FirstEnergy board, has been named interim president and CEO, effective Friday, Sept. 16.
His departure comes amid the completion of a management review related to the House Bill 6 criminal probe. It's unknown if his retirement is connected.
