BATH - The two-week public review of Steuben County’s proposed New York State Police Reform and Reinvention plan began Wednesday.
First mandated by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in June, with Steuben’s collaborative efforts beginning in August, the draft plan is built on a solid foundation and points to better ways to serve the public, said Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard.
The draft reform plan is located on the county website at www.steubencony.org and is open to the public, Allard said.
The plan was developed by a collaborative group of law enforcement agencies, municipalities and key civic and elected stakeholders in Steuben County, under the guidance of Corning Inc. Program and Change Manager Leader Dawn White. The draft looks to improve community relations with local law officers and enhance public safety.
