Burlington man seriously injured in motorcycle accident on Tama Road
A Burlington man suffered serious injuries Saturday after a motorcycle accident along Tama Road.
Matthew Stephen Garwood, 42, was traveling south on Tama Road shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday atop a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle when a deer crossed the road in front of him, according to the Burlington Police Department s accident report.
Garwood hit his brakes and was able to avoid hitting the deer, but he lost traction.
Skid marks left on the roadway indicate the motorcycle traveled 31 feet along the roadway before crossing the center line and traveling another 138 feet before going off the east shoulder of the roadway, where he traveled another 168 feet.
