Rowing Adds Two to 2022 Recruiting Class

Clemson Rowing Announces 2021-2022 Schedule

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Clemson Rowing program is set to host two home races in addition to the ACC Rowing Championship. The Tigers will kick off the 2021-22 campaign in Tuscaloosa, Alabama this Saturday. In a race against the Crimson Tide. Saturday makes the first of two meetings between the two programs in the 2021-22 season. The next will be on February 26, 2022, in Clemson. Twitty Named ACC Newcomer of the Year; Two Tigers Earn All-ACC Honors

Twitty Named ACC Newcomer of the Year; Two Tigers Earn All-ACC Honors Clemson, S.C.  Sophomore Rachel Twitty has been named ACC Newcomer of the Year as announced by the conference office following the conclusion of the ACC Championship on Saturday morning. Twitty becomes the first person to win the honor under its new designation and is just the second Clemson student-athlete to earn a major award from the conference office in program history. The last Tiger to win a major conference honor was Liz Robb who earned ACC Freshman of the Year in 2008. “Rachel’s success on this team is a testament to the power of hard work,” said Head Coach Stephen Frazier Wong. “Rachel used the lessons about toughness and determination she learned as a cross-fit athlete and applied them to training on the rowing machine when COVID shut us down in March of 2020. 2021 Rowing Preview Clemson, S.C. The Clemson rowing team made its return to the course for the first time in 364 days when it hosted the Carolina Cup on March 6. This season, the Tigers are scheduled to compete in seven races, three of which the Tigers will host. Additionally, Clemson will host the ACC Championship for the 12th consecutive season and 19 th time overall. The 2020 rowing schedule was canceled on March 12, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic following the conclusion of the Tigers’ first race of the spring season, the Carolina Cup. At the Carolina Cup in 2020, the Tigers posted their best point total since 2017.
