Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears Lewis,’ moniker is a nod to a Richard Pryor skit and something of a reclamation of Blackness from the songwriter Stephen Foster whose racist lyrics are widely regarded as an embarrassment of American music. His 2018 album, The Difference Between Me & You, is also making a comeback, which heads back to Tampa Bay this summer.

THERE WILL BE LIGHT: A musical dialogue about mental wellness This concert by BTC (STL's LGBTQ+ all voices chorus) is dedicated to mental health, removing stigma, and helping folks start conversations aimed to improving lives. Our collection of music and stories feature both the entire Chorale and members as soloists. Music ranges from Joni Mitchell, Sondheim, & Shawn Mendes to Schumann, Britten, and Stephen Foster, with the hit song from “Next to Normal” thrown in for good measure. Also featured are seven beautiful songs with poetry by STL’s own Sarah Teasdale who tragically lost her own battle with mental health. Tickets are just $15 and are available at Humanitix.com.
