thing. quickly before i have to let you go. i can hear all the work behind you and you represent so many people. i want to get your take on where we are headed with the spending bill to avoid a government shutdown. i m afraid it s a cooked deal. one of the things i ve been pointing out prior to the pandemic federal government in total spent 4.4 trillion. now because of the pandemic we dramatically increased that over three years. president biden said the pandemic is over but we look at a baseline of $6 trillion. we just take a step function up 1.6 trillion by 36% and nobody is asking the questions where is all that money going? how did that become mandatory spending as opposed to what we re debating close to $4 hundred billion over what we were spending before the pandemic for the discretionary account. far more thoughtful consideration but rushed through and we ll get a 1,000 page bill
