CHARLOTTE, N.C. Mecklenburg County officials say additional resources are being put into place to expand emergency shelter operations for the homeless in response to the extreme weather forecasted overnight Thursday, January 7th.
As the winter weather approaches, Roof Above officials say they have extended its Day Services Center hours, which are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, to allow the use of restrooms, hand washing stations, and outside radiated heaters during these extended hours.
Mecklenburg County officials say they have extended leases on nearly 160 hotel rooms in continued support of social distancing at the Salvation Army Center of Hope and Safe Alliance during the winter season.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - As a winter blast comes through the WBTV viewing area, shelters are expanding capacity in Mecklenburg County for the homeless population.
Roof Above has extended its Day Services Center hours, which are 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. during the week and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays. These extended hours include access to restrooms, hand washing stations, and outside radiated heaters, all of which meet Mecklenburg County Public Health guidelines.
