here. we re standing, a lot of this was beach. we got here this morning. quickly it s already risen several feet. i was talking to the mayor. he said one of the big worries in this area is when you go past here, there s homes that s built on a cliff. at this point their worries not so much the wind, this is not going to be the kind of storm here where the wind is going to do catastrophic damage, but what they are worried about is, it s moving so slowly, and it s going to hit right before high tide which comes about 3:30 in the morning here, that they are worried that there may be so much water brought into the areas quickly that it could erode a lot of the soil that these homes are built on a cliff. so he s been going around today trying to make sure, you know, people have left their homes or if they haven t that they are at least aware of the risk that they are taking by staying inside. wolf? even though everyone was strongly urged to leave where you are as you say, chris,
ryeback. thanks for being with us. we appreciate it. we know people are having trouble out there, especially with the streets and all of the accumulation and stuff. i understand there are some concerns with the metrodome. can you tell us anything about that? we re only analyzing that. the great issue is we know how to do snow in this town and there s been good plowing. the winds have complicated this very significantly. that s our biggest challenge. what s happening is the streets have been getting clear. we did have one issue yesterday with there was a fire truck that did get stuck. obviously there are a lot of cars that are stuck. again, we know how to do snow here. so our incredible crews who have been out since midnight yesterday and were put up in a hotel last night. the local marriott did that and they stayed at it and stayed at it. state crews and county crews were called off.
partly our state crews kept on. my street, for instance, the plow came through about five minutes ago for the second pass. what will happen now is we have to get people to move their cars, which is obviously very, very difficult. right. a lot of them probably buried under that massive pile of snow. you know, we think of minnesota and we think of snow. this is december. we don t think it s unusual. for you guys, is it something that you just say, oh, this is the usual blizzard that we get and we re prepared? well, you know, we have systems here. what we do is when the snow comes, we start plowing and we declare a parking emergency. so people move off the busy streets when we clear those and the alleys and then we move on the even streets and odd days and we do it over three days and it s a system. the challenge that we have over the system is sometimes when you plow, the wind blows over. i would say generally we re
