KARACHI: Exports of IT-related services have increased by 40 per cent in the first half of the current fiscal (1HFY21), Federal Minister of Information and Communication on Technologies (ICTs) Aminul Haque said on Monday.
Speaking at a programme on telemedicine, the minister said that diversification in exports has been emerging fast and the IT sector has shown substantial growth in the last few years. This growth could yield more foreign exchange for the country, he added.
The minister said that 5G services are also expected to be launched by the end of this year while local smartphone manufacturing has also begun in the country.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the State Bank has decided to maintain the policy rate at 7%.
The MPC has given forward guidance, the outlook of interest rate in times to come, this time to boost the confidence of investors.
âWe are now in a much better position [economically] to give forward guidance,â said State Bank Governor Dr Reza Baqir in a press briefing on Friday. âWe are seeing interest at this level in future. And if changes have to be made then it will happen in an orderly manner.â
