UUSD celebrates installation of its fourth settled minister

Rev. Dr. Christopher Schelin serves as an administrator and faculty member at Starr King School for the Ministry. His primary role is coordinating student services programs as the Dean of Students. As the Director of Contextual Education, he oversees praxis-oriented learning opportunities beyond the classroom, such as field education internships and clinical pastoral education. Chris holds a Ph.D. in ecclesiology and political theory from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His doctoral studies were conducted in collaboration with the International Baptist Theological Study Centre. His thesis explored the intersections of congregationalist ecclesiology and radical democratic theory and practice. Chris is an ordained minister affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA and the Alliance of Baptists.

He preached April 3, 1968 at the Mason Temple in Memphis, Tennessee. and last updated 2021-01-18 10:58:49-05 SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The 33rd annual All Peoples Celebration, honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will take place Monday as a virtual event and will feature keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Yvette Flunder, founder and pastor of the City Of Refuge, United Church of Christ in Oakland. The event is organized by Alliance San Diego, a community empowerment organization with the mission to build coalitions to promote justice and social change. The virtual event features Flunder as well as musical performances from the Kumeyaay Bird Singers, The Bengsons and poetry by Emmy-award winning poet, Boris BLUZ Rogers.
