Mass Covid-19 testing in schools to begin in January | Bradford Telegraph and Argus

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said mass testing in schools is a milestone moment ALL schools and colleges in England will be able to access rapid Covid-19 testing from January in a bid to keep staff and students safe, the Government has announced. Following a pilot in the first term of this school year, secondary schools, colleges, special schools and alternative provision can access weekly rapid tests. Star Academies Trust, which runs six schools in Bradford - including Tong and Laisterdyke Leadership Academies - was involved in the trial programme. Students will be eligible for daily testing for seven days if they are identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive. Current guidelines state a whole school bubble has to self-isolate if a student or staff member tests positive, but from January this won t be the case if they agree to be tested once a day.
