BAKERSFIELD, Calif. â Golden Empire Transit is expanding its services to serve more of the Bakersfield community including students at California State University Bakersfield, non-students, and the under-served community.
With the help of a partnership with Stantec Architecture Inc. and CSUB, this project became a reality.
The new transit center at CSUB was completed and recently started in early April.
This center will allow for more accessibility for students and faculty on campus and non-students will be able to take the bus for events on CSUB s campus. 23ABC did speak with Patrick M. McKelvey, a senior principal based in Stantecâs Los Angeles office, on the effects this project would have on the community.

DeKALB – The DeKalb City Council turned down a resolution at Monday’s meeting for the architecture and engineering design of a city transit facility due to the planned location along Dresser Road.
The resolution for the city-owned transit facility was planned along Dresser Road, neighboring the DeKalb County Health Department and DeKalb High School, 501 W. Dresser Road. The land is 30 acres in size with approximately 15 usable acres for a transit operations and maintenance facility.
However, many council members voiced their opposition to the site’s location due to it being close to a neighborhood and the DeKalb High School.
