FLAGLER BEACH Officials narrowed the list of city manager candidates to five during a special meeting Dec. 15. But in the days that followed, two candidates removed their names from consideration.
Lee Evett and Ben Newhouse were part of the five selected to move forward in the hiring process, but decided to pull their applications. Evett accepted the new interim administrator position with the City of Lake Helen.
The remaining city manager candidates include John Barkley, Stanley Hawthorne and William Whitson. The city selected three back-up candidates: Dru Driscoll, current deputy city manager of Daytona Beach; David Strohl; and Steven Wheeler.
