now is a time for this community to come together, pray for the victims, give strength to those injured and support all who were touched by this unconscionable act. so that deadly shooting spree north of los angeles. it is one that has investigators focusing on the motive. the sheriff says a gunman shot and killed six people while driving through that college town of isla vista, home to the university of california santa barbara, and the santa barbara community college. so the gunman is now dead, and seven others are wounded. earlier i spoke with robert johnson, with the uc santa barbara student newspaper, and he actually witnessed one of the shootings last night. i was on, standing on the corner of two of the larger streets in the area, and then first i heard some popping sounds in the distance and i
including the attention of police who took notice and spoke to that man. police out of an abundance of caution clear the area pushing everybody back and the bomb squad detonated that bag. a prosecutor says the man s name is kevin edson. he is expected to be arraigned sometime today in boston immiscible court. possible charges. martha: were the witnesses able to to contribute anything to the story? he was yelling very loudly, so people did notice him. here s what they had to say. boston strong, boston strong. so i turned around, standing on the corner, so they turn around. hey, you, get away from you.
nefario nefarious, and number two, a gas explosion. at this point, they re leaning towards gas explosion. and she said so they wanted to take everyone on the block, two blocks out, and move everyone out. so the first block, the 100 1500 block of park avenue, they moved everyone out of that block after the explosion. you couldn t stay there if you wanted to. and then the 1600 block, where i m standing on the corner, which is between 17 117th street, they started moving people out. they came in, police officers, every building, saying listen, we have to get you out of the building, knocking on doors. and they also had masks for them. and the only reason i was able to stay, they recognized me from cnn, the councilwoman pulled me into the community board and started giving me an update on the situation. i had had a gentleman here earlier, ashleigh, who witnessed the emergency personnel taking people away. mr. lowxanno, who owns a tax company just a half block away
arm and starts whacking me with those. what, what, you going to hit me? and it just escalated. he even spits on silverman. [ bleep ] you. every time he comes out he seems a little more enraged. at one point silverman tries to keep plimmer inside his store hoping he ll calm down. i didn t want him to get on the street because i was worried that he might really lose it. [ bleep ]. the real issue was i didn t want to get into a brawl with this guy because as a reporter, there is a line. but i didn t think i was at a point where this guy was going to try to really kill me. and then he makes a big mistake. he starts throwing snowballs at a toronto transit commission inspector who s standing on the corner. he also takes a shot at silverman s cameraman. the inspector immediately calls the cops, seeing the place enrages plimmer even more.
