States like Texas are on the precipice of following the lead of Georgia and Florida on some of the most restrictive voting laws in this nation.   Georgia has passed S.B. 202, also known as the “Election Integrity Act of 2021.” However, the debate on constitutionality and equity rages down party lines as Republicans suggest the law allows more time to vote while Democrats contend it is voter suppression in action. One of the restrictions in the law maintains no one is allowed to bring water to those standing in line to vote.

Former Sen Kelly Loeffler discusses voter registration group with UGA College Republicans

Former Sen. Kelly Loeffler gave a succinct, maskless message to the University of Georgia College Republicans on Wednesday night: The Republican Party needs diversity. Loeffler said diversity referred to welcoming not only people of color into the conservative fold, but also those with perspectives that differ from mainstream conservatism. “I think what we have to make sure that we do is welcome more people in the conservative movement. We will have no chance if we don t grow,” Loeffler said. Retaining Republican control of Georgia is a top priority for Loeffler’s voter registration group, Greater Georgia. Loeffler launched Greater Georgia in response to Stacey Abrams’ Fair Fight organization and other voter registration groups in Georgia.

Hidden Horrors in the Georgia Vote Law [ Editor’s Note: This voter suppression last stand for the Trump Republicans will eventually work its way to the Supreme Court, if the Congressional Democrats’ push to pass legislation to preempt it fails. Handing someone waiting in line a slice of pizza or water, and making that a felony? Will the Georgia Republicans bring ISIS people in to enforce it, so as to not bloody their own white hands? Even if Congress passed blocking legislation, the Republicans would mount a constitutional challenge, and I have read nothing so far to indicate where the judges could come down on the issue, especially if there is no precedent.
