Governor Gavin Newsom submitted his 2021-22 State Budget proposal to the Legislature – a $227.2 billion fiscal blueprint that provides funding for immediate COVID-19 response and relief efforts where Californians need it most while making investments for an equitable, inclusive and broad-based economic recovery. Holyoke City Council sets property tax rates; commercial rate exceeds $40 mark Updated Dec 19, 2020; HOLYOKE Property taxes will go up in 2021, with homeowners paying $19.28 per $1,000 in assessed valuation and businesses paying $40.65 per $1,000. The new commercial rate likely will produce groans in Holyoke’s business community, which feared breaking the $40 mark. Holyoke has the highest commercial tax rate in Massachusetts. The City Council set the rates during an online session Friday night. The new resident rate is a 1.0% increase from 2020′s rate of $19.08. It reflects in part the assessed value of the average single-family home in Holyoke jumping from $197,000 to $207,000. The average residential tax bill in 2021 will be around $3,990.

Daily Trust - Additional measures urgently needed to tackle COVID-19 resur

The monthly meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in a communiqué issue on Thursday, agreed to act on the strict enforcement of measures to contain the spread of the disease across the country. The council enlarged the membership of its Ad-Hoc Committee on COVID-19 and mandated it to urgently come up with additional measures to deal with the spike in cases. The Committee chaired by the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa with the Governors of Lagos, Bauchi, Plateau, Kano, Anambra and the FCT Minister, has now been enlarged with the addition of the Governors of Ogun and Kaduna.

Ecological Fund requires N1.4trillion to implement 1,752 projects ― FG

Share THE Federal Government on Tuesday said it has received more than 1,752 requests worth N1.4trillion from state governments, National Assembly members and other stakeholders for intervention on ecological challenges at a time when funds are not available. Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund Office (EFO), Dr Habiba Lawal, who made this known at 2020 annual media interactive session in Abuja, lamented that dwindling resources as a result of crash in the price of crude caused by COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the operation of the Fund. She disclosed that out of the N1.4 billion, four state governors demanded N300 billion to address ecological challenges in their states.
