Saint Viator High School students Camille Martinez and Anthony Pluta received perfect scores on their ACT exams, something only one-tenth of one percent of students achieve. These two most recent perfect scores bring the total number of juniors who scored a 36 on this year s ACT to four - Michael Schumacher and Christopher Rapala did so earlier this year. It s a testament to our school, teachers, and rigorous curriculum that our students are performing so well on their ACTs, said Saint Viator Principal Karen Love. We have always been committed to academic excellence and it s wonderful to see that paying off for our students.

For generations of Americans, high school graduation traditions have inspired joy, relief, pride, a bittersweet feeling of sadness and anticipation, and, if we are being honest, a bit of boredom. Living through a deadly pandemic, the Class of 2021 moves gratitude to the top of that list. Compared to last year, the Class of 2020, this is amazing, said Megan Saso of Arlington Heights, her smile hidden behind the commemorative Class of 2021 face mask she wore for graduation from St. Viator High School.
Just being able to celebrate with their classmates, teachers and loved ones in an outdoor ceremony at Arlington Park instead of online made the graduation ceremony special for 18-year-old Megan and her twin, Caitlin Saso.

In Megan O Neill s English classes at Saint Viator High School, students are just as likely to study classics like The Scarlet Letter as they are Amanda Gorman s The Hill We Climb.
It s where she weaves in the past with the present, and no daily lesson plan is ever the same.
I think there s always lessons that can be learned from these classics, as long as you re keeping current events in mind, said O Neill, who started a Literary Heroines course at the Arlington Heights Catholic high school in the fall. If you just keep those books in the 1920s or 1600s, I don t think students are going to get as much out of it. But if you re bringing those events from those historical time periods and the values of those time periods, and comparing and contrasting them to present day and what students are actually going through today, that s what brings more merit.

St. Viator High School has named the Rev. Dan Lydon as its new president starting this summer a return to clerical leadership at the Arlington Heights school after five years under its first lay president.
The appointment, announced Wednesday by Viatorian community provincial the Rev. Dan Hall, marks a return to St. Viator for Lydon a one-time vice principal and teacher. He is a 1973 graduate of the school.
I am humbled to be presented with this opportunity to lead a community that has meant so much to me throughout my life, Lydon said in a statement. I look forward to leading this outstanding institution as we prepare for the continued challenges in providing a community of faith formation and academic excellence.
