Reports from the Sri Lakan capital of Colombo said President Rajapaksa will arrive in the Tanzanian capital city of Dar es Salaam mid-this week in his “Look Africa” policy which he had adopted when he became Sri Lanka’s President in November 2005.
No more details were available about the Sri Lanka President’s visit to Tanzania, but reports say the Sri Lanka statesman will center his talks on economic and trade partnership with Tanzania and other African countries, among areas of priority cooperation will be tourism and travel interactions.

Police Media Spokesman Attorney at law Ajith Rohana stated that according to the information revealed during the interrogation, the suspect was taken to the Rendapola area in Meerigama this morning, the suspect was shot by the police while attempting to escape from police custody. He was later admitted to the Mirigama Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Seven fishermen from Tharuvaikulam fishing harbour with their mechanised boat have been detained by the Sri Lankan navy as they allegedly entered Sri Lankan waters.
The seven fishermen – S. Velraj, 39, of Tharuvaikulam, A. Dhanush, 21, and P. Ananth, 40, of Thaalamuthu Nagar, M. Umaiya Eswaran, 38, of Rameswaran, M. Thangapandi, 30, of Melagaram near Tenkasi, S. Anbu, 43, and P. Pandi of Siluvaipatti – had gone for fishing in a mechanised boat from their base on December 11. As they allegedly entered the Sri Lankan waters, the Sri Lakan navy detained the boat with the fishermen and took them to the Kalpitti naval base on Tuesday, where they have been isolated in the wake of pandemic threat.
