“Concrete is crumbling all over the bridge. “This really isn’t good enough. “It’s only about five millimetres off the ground, it’s so easy to trip over. “I have to watch the floor when I’m walking over the bridge. “It’s dangerous and unsafe.” The metal plates will be removed and replaced within seven days, Essex Highways confirmed to the Echo. Bosses insist the bridge is safe to use. Parents have been spotted catching their pram wheels on the metal plate. One commented on social media: “I walked over the bridge today and caught the wheel of the pram on that “repair”, thank goodness my toddler was strapped in or else he’d have been thrown out.”
BASILDON leisure centres have invested a whopping £1million to make a number of improvements to their gym facilities. Basildon Sporting Village, Eversley Leisure Centre, and Wickford Swim and Fitness Centre began works to their fitness facilities earlier this month to help provide a better experience for members. The £1million investment included the replacement of all existing kit at Basildon Sporting Village’s 100-station fitness suite and Eversley Leisure Centre’s 60-station gym. New equipment has now been added, including wattbikes, a plate loaded resistance kit, an Olympic power rack, a squat rack and scott bench. The flooring and signage has also been replaced at all three centres.
