SPOKANE, Wash. The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Spokane will receive $12 million in grants aimed at improving the tree canopy in the community.
Avista said its crews have removed more than 5,000 at risk trees, but even more may have been cut down by firefighters, landowners and commercial contractors.
