In the aftermath of recent drownings in the area, New Milford Police have taken to social media to warn residents of the dangers of the Housatonic River.
Back in June, two men from Danbury lost their lives while fishing by the Bleachery Dam, one man slipped into the raging river and the other slipped in trying to rescue him, both were declared accidental drowning victims.

With summer storms, that seem to be very prevalent this year in Northwest Connecticut, causing the Housatonic River to be extra active and dangerous. The New Milford Police Department have taken to social media to warn residents of the danger that the roaring river possess.

Chief Cerruto then goes on to list some of the major career highlights that Kira has amassed over the past decade and it s very impressive. Kira worked her entire career with the New Milford PD, and chalked up an impressive amount of drug busts. Kira has sniffed out stashes of cocaine, meth and marijuana, and in one special traffic stop that occurred on Rt. 67 in town, Kira alerted to a big stash of heroin that led to felony arrests.
He was on his way to his swearing-in ceremony.

A New Milford police officer who was on his way to be sworn in helped rescue three people and four dogs from a house fire in Newtown.
Police said New Milford Police Officer Eric Wilcoxson was with his wife and two brothers, on his way to be sworn in at New Milford Town Hall around 7:15 a.m. Friday, when he saw a house on Hanover Road in Newtown on fire.
While his wife dialed 911, Wilcoxson and his two brothers pounded on the door of the home and got the attention of the three residents and ensured that they got to safety, New Milford police said. Four dogs were also saved from the house.
